Uganda houses the highest mountain range in Africa, the Mountains of the Moon (Rwenzori Mountains). It is the source of the Nile around Jinja which offers the best white-water rafting in the world. It has the highest number of primates on this human inhabited planet earth, including the majestic mountain gorilla, one of the rarest animals on the planet.
It has scenery that is so striking that it looks like an oil painting.
Kampala is safer and friendlier than most cities in Africa. In 1907 pioneering tourist Winston Churchill called it the ‘Pearl of Africa’. He was right.
The whole country is fairly stable security wise and tourists are welcomed with open arms.

While mountain gorillas are the allure for many visitors, there’s an astounding variety of attractions for tourists.
Having stepped out of the shadows of a deep dark past under Idi Amin and the Lord’s Resistance Army, Uganda is no longer a country to be feared – and widely regarded as one of Africa’s safest destinations. Whether it’s wildlife safaris, trekking volcanoes, white-water rafting or just kicking back on the beach.
MAJOR ATTRACTIONS
Gorilla tracking/trekking
One of the essential Uganda experiences is tracking mountain gorillas in and nothing quite prepares you for the first glimpse of black fuzz amidst the dense foliage. The adrenaline kicks in when you’re up close to the imposing figure of a silverback and it’s all very Dian Fossey-like when curious babies peek through leaves and twist, turn and somersault for your entertainment. Gorilla permits will set you back a hefty US$500 but don’t think twice about forking out for this genuine once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Keep in mind that a portion of the fee goes to the park and gorilla conservation initiatives, helping to ensure their survival.

Tree Climbing Lion In Ishasha

Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest park where you can follow up your morning wildlife drive with a cruise on the Nile to the base of the falls – the perfect way to spy elephants, buffalo, crocs and loads of hippos while you relax with a beer on the boat. Head to Queen Elizabeth for a better chance of spotting the elusive leopard or otherwise its trademark tree-climbing lions. Few tourists make it as far north as Kidepo Valley, but those who do are rewarded with not only the best selection of animals, but some of the most spectacular scenery in Uganda. And if you’re hoping to tick off the Big Five, add Ziwa Sanctuary to your itinerary to get up close to white rhino, which you track on foot.
Water Tourism
The source of the Nile is a magnet for white-water rafting enthusiasts where you can plunge down Grade-5 rapids or otherwise kayak or try the white-knuckle jet boat ride. Those who prefer a different kind of plunge can opt for bungee jumping by Bujagali Falls. Trekkers can test their endurance tackling the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rwenzori Mountains, evocatively described as the ‘mountains of the Moon’ with stunning views of the equatorial mist as your reward at the top. For more treks try Mount Elgon National Park or the dramatic Virunga volcanoes where the borders of Uganda, Congo and Rwanda converge. 

Captivating Scenery
Uganda has some beautiful spots for resting up. Lake Bunyonyi has intoxicating views where the mist hangs low over terraced hillsides and dugout canoes glide through the still waters. Ssese Islands in the Lake Victoria is where you’ll find some of the finest white sand beaches and burning sunsets
Then there is Sipi Falls in eastern Uganda, which is earning a reputation for its uninhibited views of the crashing falls.

TRAVEL(Travelling to Uganda) .

Visas are issued at Ugandan Missions abroad and also at entry/exit points. Underlying the Uganda visa policy is the principle of reciprocity, that is, all countries that require visas for Ugandans are also visa prone in Uganda.
At Entry Points a visa can be obtained at a fee of single entry $ 50.00 per person.
Ugandan visa fees were increased with effect from 1st July 2007 as follows.

DRESSING UP FOR THE PARKS.

Since most of these national parks are scattered around the country, the vegetation, terrain and even weather is varied.
When packing up for a safari to one of these parks, always research enough on the physical and even the cultural aspects of this area.
One of the most important factors to consider when going on a safari is the weather. Since Uganda’s national parks are scattered in all corners of the contry, there are extremes in the weather. Some areas are very hot whereas others are very cold. Others may receive very heavy rainfall thus it’s always important to research on the weather of a place before going there.
The terrain of an area is another major factor to consider. A hilly area may not be very friendly to a tight skirt whereas a rocky area may require tougher shoes than you usually wear. Some places may have slippery landscapes especially the muddy or hilly areas in which case rubber soles are a good option.
The vegetation is another major consideration. Many national parks have thorny vegetation which makes a tough pair of pants a necessity. Other parks may be located in forests or bushy areas where mosquitoes are rife. It’s always advisable to carry some long sleeved tops and trousers to these areas and a mosquito repellent can also be of great importance i dealing with these notorious insects.
Culture is also another important thing to consider. Some places in Uganda are very conservative, thus a pair of hot pants may not be ideal for such an area. If you can’t avoid wearing them, buy a kanga, kikoy or kitenge piece, which you can always tie around your waist. The kanga or Kikoy may also come in handy when you want to protect your face and clothes from the dust or when it gets too cold.
When going on Safari, try and pack clothes that are convenient to use in terms of colour, storage and wear. It’s important to take colors and fabrics that don’t get dirty easily especially when you are travelling to a dusty area.
Durable fabrics and styles are also ideal for safari as there are various situations that you may encounter where your clothes need to be tough. Delicate chiffons may not come back in one piece from a hiking trip.
