Tier 2 Financial Institutions .

These are not authorized to establish checking accounts or deal in foreign exchange. The companies are authorized to take in customer deposits and establish savings accounts and provide collateralized and non-collateralized loans to savings and non-savings customers. Their activities are supervised by the Bank of Uganda, Uganda's Central Bank.

Mercantile Credit Bank Limited, commonly referred to as Mercantile Credit Bank (MCB).

The headquarters of Mercantile Credit Bank are located at 10 Old Port Bell Road, in Kampala's Industrial Area. The coordinates are: 00 10 07N, 32 35 57E (Latitude:0.3185; Longitude:32.5985).
As of October 2010, the institution maintains branches at the following locations:

Letshego.

The head offices of Letshego are located at 7 Babiiha Avenue, on Kololo Hill, The coordinates of the headquarters are:00 19 48N, 32 35 13E (Latitude:0.3300; Longitude:32.5980).
This microfinance institution was licensed in 1995 and began operations in 1996.
As of December 2010, the institution's total assets were in excess of US$13.8 million, with shareholder's equity of approximately US$4.6 million. [
The company is 100% owned by Opportunity International, as of December 2009.

PostBank Uganda.
As of May 2010, PostBank Uganda was a small credit institution whose asset base was estimated at about US$39 million.

PostBank Uganda has been in existence since 1926. It started out as a department in the Post Office. In February 1998 PostBank Uganda Limited was incorporated in accordance with the Communications Act of 1997 to take over the operations of the former Post Office Savings department.
In 2009, PostBank Uganda applied to the Bank of Uganda to become a fully licensed commercial bank.
PostBank Uganda is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda.
As of May 2010, PostBank Uganda maintains a branch network of :Arua,
